In an excellent piece on Mondoweiss entitled “Israel and the nomination of Chuck Hagel,” radical scholar Joel Kovel felicitously captures the true nature of U.S.-Israel relations:
It is safe to say that never in history has there been a relationship like this, in which the client state masters the master, occupies his precincts, and colonizes the colonizer.
Maidhc Ó Cathail is an investigative journalist and Middle East analyst. He is also the creator and editor of The Passionate Attachment blog, which focuses primarily on the U.S.-Israeli relationship.
The fact is that “Israel” never was a “client state” of any nation state. That would make the quoted line a form of disinformation through faulty premise.
I would post this comment at Mondoweiss but their comments are heavily screened and at best I could hope for the comment to appear after 12 or more hours.

I agree that Israel never actually was a client state, but apart from that faulty premise it’s a pithy description of the relationship. Perhaps it might have better been phrased as follows:
