I certainly caught the irony, but I heard no irony in the commentator’s voice when he quoted Hillel [the Elder] as saying after he was asked to define the essential message of Judaism as being: “What is hateful to you – do not do to your neighbor. That is the whole of the Torah. All else is commentary.” Perhaps the Palestinians have somehow been negated as “neighbors.”

    It’s obviously not what the Torah is ‘ all about ‘. There is no religion on the planet more obsessed with presenting itself as something it is not. The whole idea of branding is a very familiar concept.
